6:09 SPEAKER_04: Tommy and Becky laid their bikes down in the woods as they made their way to the impact site.

6:14 SPEAKER_12: Dude, I told you I saw it land right over this ridge.

6:17 SPEAKER_12: If we find whatever it is, it could be worth some cash.

6:20 SPEAKER_05: It's probably just some old piece of a satellite.

6:23 SPEAKER_05: Or nothing at all, Tommy.

6:24 SPEAKER_05: Why'd you bring that stupid Geiger counter anyway?

6:27 SPEAKER_04: Becky asked Tommy sarcastically.

6:29 SPEAKER_12: Because it's wicked cool, Becky.

6:31 SPEAKER_12: What if it's an alien or a meteor?

6:33 SPEAKER_12: Holy crap.

6:34 SPEAKER_12: Either way, we're gonna be famous.

6:36 SPEAKER_04: Becky rolled her eyes at him as she lit a cigarette.

6:40 SPEAKER_05: Shine your light over that way.

6:41 SPEAKER_05: Go ahead, use your stupid Geiger counter thing.

6:44 SPEAKER_04: This time it was Tommy who rolled his eyes at her.

6:48 SPEAKER_04: He asked Becky for a smoke as he did.

6:52 SPEAKER_04: The Geiger counter began clicking wildly as a little green light began pulsing on the control panel.

6:58 SPEAKER_12: Over here, whatever it is, it's glowing.

7:00 SPEAKER_04: Tommy exhaled a puff of white smoke that dissipated into the night air.

7:04 SPEAKER_04: He picked up a stick and poked the shiny black softball-sized thing.

7:08 SPEAKER_06: Something's moving inside! Tommy, don't touch it!

7:12 SPEAKER_04: The shiny black pod opened up and some kind of slimy green tendril shot out and latched onto Tommy's ankle.

7:18 SPEAKER_04: Tommy screamed as the small viny things began burrowing into his skin.

7:23 SPEAKER_04: Becky dropped the flashlight, said, fuck this, and ran to her bike.

7:28 SPEAKER_04: Tommy begged her for help and to come back.

7:31 SPEAKER_04: But no such luck.

7:33 SPEAKER_04: It was a hazy Saturday morning as Sheriff Maddox poured his third cup of coffee of the morning.

7:38 SPEAKER_04: He ran his fingers through his balding hair and put his sheriff's hat back on his head.

7:44 SPEAKER_11: So let me get this straight.

7:46 SPEAKER_11: You and your friend Tommy are playing in the woods last night looking for whatever the hell you think you saw crash.

7:52 SPEAKER_11: You find it.

7:53 SPEAKER_11: Then what?

7:55 SPEAKER_06: I already told you, Sheriff.

7:57 SPEAKER_06: Why the fuck aren't you listening?

7:59 SPEAKER_06: It hatched.

8:00 SPEAKER_06: It opened and something something grabbed him.

8:03 SPEAKER_06: I lost my shit and ran.

8:05 SPEAKER_06: Jesus Christ, I just left him.

8:07 SPEAKER_06: I was so scared.

8:08 SPEAKER_06: I panicked.

8:09 SPEAKER_06: He was my best friend.

8:15 SPEAKER_08: Mr.

8:15 SPEAKER_08: Douglas, did you and Tommy was it?

8:18 SPEAKER_08: Were you under the influence of any illegal substances?

8:20 SPEAKER_08: The devil's lettuce, shrooms, or maybe you snuck into your daddy's liquor cabinet.

8:26 SPEAKER_06: No, it wasn't anything like that.

8:28 SPEAKER_06: I don't do drugs or drink.

8:31 SPEAKER_11: Okay.

8:32 SPEAKER_11: Okay.

8:32 SPEAKER_11: Sam, take the squad car down there and check it out.

8:36 SPEAKER_11: Bring the PPE kit with the gloves and masks and shit.

8:40 SPEAKER_11: Let me know what you find and if there's any sign of the boy.

8:44 SPEAKER_11: In the meantime, Miss Douglas, go home and get some rest.

8:48 SPEAKER_11: I'm sure he'll turn up.

8:50 SPEAKER_11: You know how boys can be.

8:52 SPEAKER_11: But also, I wouldn't leave town any time in the near future.

8:56 SPEAKER_06: What are you saying, Sheriff?

8:58 SPEAKER_06: Are you saying I'm a suspect?

9:00 SPEAKER_11: No, I'm not saying that at all.

9:02 SPEAKER_11: But I have to keep every option open.

9:06 SPEAKER_04: Deputy Burns parked the car a few feet from the trail where Tommy went missing and walked over the bluff.

9:14 SPEAKER_04: As Sam got closer to the site, he noticed what looked like bones and carcasses of animals.

9:23 SPEAKER_11: I am.

9:24 SPEAKER_11: What you got for me?

9:25 SPEAKER_11: Any sign of a kid?

9:26 SPEAKER_11: Or any bullshit meteor?

9:30 SPEAKER_09: Look at this thing.

9:32 SPEAKER_09: Run everywhere.

9:34 SPEAKER_09: It's like it grew overnight.

9:36 SPEAKER_09: Like a fucking tropical island out here in the forest.

9:39 SPEAKER_09: I've hunted these woods ever since I was a kid.

9:42 SPEAKER_09: And I ain't never seen any vegetation like this.

9:46 SPEAKER_02: Over here, we found something.

9:48 SPEAKER_02: It's him or what's left of him.

9:50 SPEAKER_11: His face is cute off.

9:55 SPEAKER_11: Shut that place down, fucking ASAP.

9:59 SPEAKER_11: Secure the area.

10:00 SPEAKER_11: We got a murder on our hands.

10:03 SPEAKER_11: Send someone over to Miss Douglas's house, pick her up.

10:07 SPEAKER_11: I got some questions that need answering.

10:10 SPEAKER_04: Just then Burns hears something behind him.

10:12 SPEAKER_04: As he turns around, he feels the forest come alive.

10:15 SPEAKER_04: What looked like plant roots encircle his arms and legs, thick thorny vines squelching thou his skin, drawing blood immediately.

10:23 SPEAKER_04: A huge pod, like a venous flytrap, suddenly tilted back, as a mouthful of razor-sharp teeth glistening with blood and saliva.

10:32 SPEAKER_04: It closed itself shut over the man's arms and ripped them off and swallowed it whole.

10:38 SPEAKER_09: Holy fuck! What the fuck just happened?

10:41 SPEAKER_09: Officer down.

10:42 SPEAKER_09: Oh my god, Deputy Burns.

10:45 unknown: Man, what the holy hell is going on there?

10:48 SPEAKER_04: Just then, two other man eating plants opened their mouths as well.

10:52 SPEAKER_04: Sheriff Maddox heard gunshots in the background.

10:56 SPEAKER_04: Then static on the radio.

10:58 SPEAKER_04: Then nothing.

11:00 unknown: WPRN's live emergency broadcast.

11:03 SPEAKER_11: We're advising all residents to stay indoors.

11:06 SPEAKER_11: Please stay indoors.

11:08 SPEAKER_11: The CBC has just issued a mandatory lockdown.

11:12 SPEAKER_11: Scientists are working around the clock to figure out what this mysterious vegetation is, where it came from.

11:19 SPEAKER_11: But whatever it is, it's dangerous.

11:22 SPEAKER_11: Emergency EM's crews will be on site to make sure that you are safe.

11:27 SPEAKER_11: They will use force if necessary.

11:30 SPEAKER_11: Do not approach any unusual vegetation.

11:33 SPEAKER_11: The reports are saying that whatever this is, it's taking over everything downtown.

11:42 SPEAKER_11: These gigantic pods are growing everywhere.

11:47 SPEAKER_11: The National Guard has been deployed.

13:34 SPEAKER_04: If you don't go back to your houses, we will open fire, shouted an officer.

13:38 SPEAKER_01: They came up through the dreams.

13:40 SPEAKER_01: Oh God, my baby.

13:41 SPEAKER_01: It took my baby.

13:44 SPEAKER_11: I heard the government is a part of this.

13:46 SPEAKER_11: Probably some goddamn chemical weapon or an attack.

13:50 SPEAKER_04: What are you guys hiding?

13:52 SPEAKER_04: More gunshots rang out.

13:55 SPEAKER_04: People running around, some in their houses, some just didn't make it.

13:59 SPEAKER_04: Bloody body bits covered the streets.

14:02 SPEAKER_04: These vines were as thick as trees.

14:04 SPEAKER_04: The thorns were impassable.

14:06 SPEAKER_04: Like Jack and the fucking beanstalk in a nightmare.

14:11 SPEAKER_11: Similar reports now from Oregon.

14:13 SPEAKER_11: London has declared martial law.

14:16 SPEAKER_11: Plague of aggressive plant life in Tokyo.

14:18 SPEAKER_11: Entire city blocks overtaken.

14:21 SPEAKER_11: Do not approach this vegetation.

14:23 SPEAKER_11: Whatever it is, it's extremely dangerous.

14:26 SPEAKER_11: Mass casualties have also been reported.

14:29 SPEAKER_04: From a single seed came the end of the world.

14:33 SPEAKER_04: Traveling millions of light years away.

14:35 SPEAKER_04: It fed on us, grew from us.

14:38 SPEAKER_04: Now it is us.

14:40 SPEAKER_04: We were the soil.

14:41 SPEAKER_04: These galactic spores traveled the cosmic winds and made their way to other planets, spreading, taking over, and devouring.
